Thanks to the generosity of so many people, Randy was recognized as of the top fund raisers for the Best Buddies: Hearst Castle ride. The 100-mile ride down the coast of California from Carmel to Hearst Castle was a beautiful, undulating ride along Highway 1. The scenery on the ride was magnificent, but the early morning fog, so typical of California and the Pacific Ocean, lent itself to sudden vistas and "moonscape views" when the world would suddenly appear. The after-ride BBQ at the beach was a highlight, as was the VIP dinner at the Hearst Ranch where the entertainment was The Black Eyed Peas. A special treat was the late-night gathering at the Castle itself and the swim in the infamous Neptune Pool. Before the ride, a cocktail party and buffet dinner were held at the Chateau Julian winery. Special guests were honored and treated to a welcome by the Best Buddies founder, Anthony Shriver, and his sister, California's First Lady Maria Shriver Schwartzenegger. Music was the highlight of the after dinner activities. Guests were treated to a private concert by none other than Kenny G and his hypnotic woodwind sounds. Next morning, early, Randy is ready to hit the road and ride the 100-miles from Carmel to Hearst Castle.
