Ruhlman continues to drive for Derhaag Motorsports in the #40 Pontiac Riley with major sponsorship from Cleveland based, Preformed Line Products.  Ruhlman won last year's Cleveland Grand Prix Trans-Am race in his #49 Preformed Line Products Corvette, in a come from behind victory.  That vicory followed his earlier win at Long Beach and second place finish at Portland and put him solidly in the 2005 Trans-Am Drivers' Championship points lead.

This weekend, Randy Ruhlman will be returning to northern Ohio to race, not to the Cleveland Grand Prix, but to the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course and the Grand American Daytona Prototype presented by Crown Royal three-hour endurance race, Saturday evening, June 24th.  Ruhlman moved over for 2006 to drive Daytona Prototypes, when the Trans-Am Series ended after a 40-year run as America's top Muscle Car series.

"This is a whole new deal, not only for me, but for the entire team.  We had a fantastic season last year with Trans-Am and Derhaag Motorsports, but it ended up being the final year of the Trans-Am legacy.  We were very sad to see Trans-Am end, but driving Daytona Prototypes in the Grand American Rolex Cup is THE place to be.  The caliber of drivers here is phenomenal, the equipment is high tech, and the racing is non-stop excitement.  It's a challenge we were ready to take on.  We had a lot of years of experience in Trans-Am, so we are on a steep learning curve now.  But it's encouraging, we're making progress every race and should be right there," says Ruhlman of the change from the Trans-Am Series to the Daytona Prototype cars in the Grand American Rolex Series presented by Royal Crown Special Reserve.

As well as being the winner of the 2005 Cleveland Grand Prix Trans-Am race, Randy Ruhlman won the Long Beach Grand Prix, was named the 2005 BBS "Most Improved Driver of the Year", and was runner up for the 2005 Trans-Am Drivers' Championship. Ruhlman makes the record books as fourth in Top Ten finishes in Trans-Am history.  A veteran race car driver, Ruhlman has extensive racing experience, predominantly in road racing in the Trans-Am Series, as well as in IMSA, ASA and the NASCAR short track series.

Randy Ruhlman spends time between races working with the Buckle Up America program helping to promote seat belt use, and last year was the keynote speaker at the Cleveland House of Blues Kick-off of the Northeast Ohio "Click It or Ticket" campaign.  As an avid bicycle rider, Ruhlman combines his passion for the road with his desire to help others by working closely with the Lance Armstrong Foundation and their charity rides across the country.
